Morning Walk

We call this 'Q' Hill. It's just nearby and it has a giant 'Q' painted on it. Q for Quartzsite, of course. It can be seen from Interstate 10 highway which runs through the middle of the town.
There are two disused rock crushing plants near the hill. These were used a few decades ago when they were looking for gold 'in thar hills'.

There are lots of tracks up the hill, all rocky and a bit scrambly, but it isn't very high so good exercise on a crisp morning.
Our golfing nut friend decided to swing a few from the top.

We've seen quite a few micro-lights flying around since we've been here.
You wouldn't get me up there in a pink fit!

There aren't as many saguaro cactii here as we saw in Tucson. In fact, not much seems to grow around here at all. This magnificent pair are about twelve feet tall and as they only grow an inch a year that makes them about 150 years old!

Just as we have a native garden in Australia, they have desert gardens here. Who would try to grow roses and creepers where there's no rain and harsh temperatures. I love this type of garden.
However, using cactii as Christmas trees leaves me a bit cold.

Great walk, thankyou for taking me with you!
The 'christmas trees' are certainly inventive!
